About Handywoman and
her handmade weaving tools.

Update:  My father passed away this morning 10-11-2024. I need to close earlier than planned to take care of funeral arrangements.    Handywoman shop will close on October 12, 2024 and reopen on January 5th 2025.  No orders will be taken during this time and payment processing will be turned off.   All orders taken before shutting down will be shipped out as usual rest assured your orders will not be delayed at all by my closing.  USPS is slower during these last few months of the year so plan ahead.

... Handywoman Shop is a woman owned and operated business that has been in business since 1998.

Hi I'm Janet and I am the owner of Handywoman weaving tools. My shop is a super busy shop and I work very hard to make sure I continue to offer you prices that you can afford.  Every day is a hustle and bustle to get you your order as fast as I can.  I get out in my shop every day and start making the tools you've ordered.  If you have a deadline just let me know so I can tell you if I can manage to complete your request in the time you require.

You can find me on Instagram #handywomanshop, you can also find what I'm up to on my blog at www.handywomanshop.blogspot.com

As Handywoman I have been making and selling low cost weaving tools at different venues since 1998.  Then in 2007 I found Etsy and opened my Etsy shop to reach more weavers.  Since then my little weaving shop has taken off and I'm outgrowing Etsy.  I'm not ready to completely leave Etsy but I do need to begin the process.  This is why I created my new Handywoman Shop site.  You will find more Handywoman tools here than you will find on Etsy,  such as Boat shuttles made from exotic woods, Tapestry Looms, Band looms, Rigid heddle looms and many more hand weaving tools and much cheaper prices on my own site than you will on Etsy.  I have to charge more on Etsy because of very high fees there.

My mission is and always has been to offer low prices to help promote weaving, giving more people the opportunity to have some of the necessary tools needed without breaking the bank.
All my weaving tools are handmade using a variety of woods so you have a choice in the wood and prices you want.  I source wood from companies that collect sustainable and wood from downed trees as well as recycled woods.  Inflation and the cost of supplies has caused me to have to raise prices a bit to cover costs but I am still trying to offer you the lowest prices possible.

Order processing time varies by item ordered.  All Handywoman tools are made on order so time is required to make your new Handywoman tool which is generally 4-5 days.  Shipping time varies by the time required to finish your order.  Some items take much longer than others.   I ship twice a week, generally Wednesday and Friday so if you order on Wednesday or Thursday your order will probably go out the following Wednesday.  I have to make your order and I have to box it all up and schedule a pick up.   I do not take orders without a purchase.  Orders are made in the order of the purchase receipt date and time.

Please understand, all our products are handmade, they are not manufactured by some machine that makes them exactly the same and perfect every time.  I do not throw away wood because it's not perfect.  I work around imperfections and make sure the tool works as designed.  If you are thinking you will be getting an exquisite 80 dollar shuttle for 30 dollars you are mistaken.  We are not trying to make expensive tools, we are trying to offer you perfectly good tools for a price you can afford.  :)  That is our mission for goodness sakes.   However we feel our tools, each and every one of them are exquisite. :)  I am a bit biased ......

Thank you for stopping by Handywoman Shop, I hope you find what you are looking for.

Sincerely,
Janet Fox
